In the great city of Crownston, the valiant Sir Ivan Drake set out a request for brave men to help him investigate grim goings on in the nearby town of Foxshade. In the Frozen Ghost he met the talented but green young wizard Fallow, his friend the lovely ranger Phelan. The sly and crafty wizard with the checked past, Revlar. The fiery-tempered young warrior Jendaria (don't call her Jen), Ranger Sonith and the barbarian priest Urvanil. Together, the seven set off for Foxshade.
After only a short time on the road, the group encountered another party, the knight Sir Vitus Kron and his cronies. Keen-eyed Revlar could see that this group, and the half-elf rogue in particular, were clearly up to know good and attempted to hold the rogue for questioning. This move proved unwise though, and a battle ensued that showed they were clearly outmatched. In the end, only Ivan's surrender as a knight was enough to save them. But groups diverged, clearly to meet again.
The goings on in Foxshade were grim indeed. Someone was hiring orcs to raid caravans, and there was a mysterious building in town which noone could enter. Except of course, our intrepid heroes after a bit of investigation. This move also proved to be a poor idea, as the group soon found themselves trapped inside the burning building, beset by elves and wizards. Though they fought valiantly, Sonith and Urvanil did not escape alive, and the others cut very close.
But despite these mishaps, enough clues were uncovered to trace the wrongdoing to Baron Sullivan himself. A great showdown took place, and in the end, Kron and his cronies fled the battle and Sullivan was captured. But the victory was not without cost as Phelan had fallen in the battle as well.
But life went on. To replace Sullivan, Sir Ivan was named Baron of Foxsahde and under him, the village prospered and the people felt happy and safe again. Fallow, mourning the death of Phelan remained in Foxshade and found a new mentor in the old wizard living there. Jendaria opted to stay on as one of Ivan's guard and began turning an approving eye to Revlar. Perhaps because of this attention or perhaps because Foxshade was just too boring for him, Revlar quickly jumped town and spent time in the big city, doing some studying, flirting with the nobles, working his magics for entertainment, and performing a little innocent larceny on the side.
About a year later, a new charge was dropped in Ivan's lap. Baron Sullivan had had a son, and Ivan's liege had decided that the boy should be transferred to the custody of his uncle in Spider Glen. Since the Baron was too busy managing his land to take the boy, Douglas, himself, he placed the boy in the charge of his trusted friends, Fallow, Revlar and Jendaria. He also managed to recruit to more to help them, a warrior from far off lands named Sharif, and a priest of the war god Valka named Ulric. Unfortunately, before they could even set out, Fallow said something to offend Jendaria and she departed in anger.
Onto the road, they continued though, and soon found themselves joined by a great warrior in ogre form, named Harg. Though he looked dangerous (and certainly was when he brought his weapons forth), it was soon clear that he was friendly and softhearted and a good guy to have around. With Harg traveled a ranger named Dex, and another boy who went by the name of Joxa, and turned out to be a close friend of Douglas.
This happy reunion was not to last long, though. But a short time later,
